Episode 6 Mind Over Matter

“Mind Over Matter” digs into psychological safety and why it’s the foundation of any successful return to office. I talk with Nicole about how safety lets people fail forward, give honest feedback, and bring their best work — not because they’re scared of punishment, but because they trust their leaders and teammates. We share real stories (yes, the font‑and‑period saga), practical feedback tools, and simple red‑flag/green‑flag signals leaders can start using tomorrow.

If you lead a team or just want to survive the shuffle, this episode gives down‑to‑earth ways to rebuild trust: re‑onboard with clear norms, match people to their strengths, teach rapport‑building, and practise feedback that actually helps. Tune in for candid laughs, concrete tips, and a few hot flashes — then try one idea from the episode in your next one‑on‑one.

Feedback tool explained — SBI / ASBI

  • SBI (Situation‑Behaviour‑Impact): Describe the situation, state the observable behaviour, and explain the impact it had. Example: “In yesterday’s 10 a.m. meeting (situation), you read the slides verbatim (behaviour). When that happened, people disengaged and we lost momentum (impact).”
  • ASBI (Ask + SBI): Start by inviting dialogue (e.g., “Can I share an observation?”), then use Situation‑Behaviour‑Impact. This opens a two‑way conversation and makes feedback easier to receive and act on.
